IFR Flight Training in Progress!
The time for trips has been cut short lately due to the amount of instrument training I have been trying to fit in this summer. Wisconsin has many wonder airports and I have started making a point to visit a different airport everytime I venture out for a short trip. The goal is to make a landing at every airport on the Green Bay, WI sectional. I have made several trips throughout much of WI and it continues to amaze me how friendly the staff at the smaller airports can be.
If you have the time here is a quick list of must stops:
MTW - Manitowoc airport, they have wonderful staff that is happy to see every pilot walk through the door. I made a stop in there this spring and got a chance to look at the DA20 Diamond that they rent. I will also be coming back here to get my sea plane rating sometime soon!
CWA - Good old Central Wisconsin airport. Much like the Appleton airport the friendly controllers are located in CWA are always happy to have students come visit there airports. I have made several trips up to Central Wisconsin, stop by and try their breakfast located in the terminal!
DLL - The Wisconsin Dells area has always been one of my favorite trips and now I make it by plane. See the lights from the hotels and resorts just after dusk is a trip everyone should make.
SBM - Truley one of Wisconsin's finest small town airports. Sheboygan has been one of the more popular destinations in my log book for several reasons, close to home, nice runways and wonderful staff at Burrows Aviation. They have a great restaurant and one of the lowest prices for self serve fuel in the state.
